Stay in the Game: Get Lean
Appetizer
Get MORE lean. We all know that just focusing on what the scale says is not a good idea. The important thing is not how much you weigh but how lean you are, and the best way to get lean is to work out AND watch what you eat.
Many of you are reading this and thinking, "Well, that's nothing new," and you're right. However, too many people are relying on just one aspect of a healthy lifestyle or another as opposed to taking a holistic approach.

Need proof?
According to Fabio Comana, an exercise physiologist with the American Council on Exercise, when exercise is incorporated into a weight-loss program, each pound-and-a-quarter of fat lost is typically accompanied by a quarter-pound gain in lean tissue, for a net loss of 1 pound. In contrast, through dietary restriction alone, each pound lost represents only three-quarters of a pound of fat and a quarter pound of calorie-burning lean tissue.
Dessert
In actuality, I'm glad that we working out and eating well work together to help keep us fit because then I don't have to rely too much on one method or the other. If I slack off on a work out one day, I don't have to fret because I can offset my laziness with a great healthy dinner. On the other hand, there are days that my pizza loaded lunch is followed up with a high-powered cardio session that makes me feel on top of the world.
Everything on this wellness journey is about moderation and balance, and I'm thankful for that.
