I had an interesting conversation with a co-worker the other day. We were talking about not eating fried food, and I was telling her just how unhealthy fried things are. She went on to say, “Yeah, that’s true. Except for fried rice. It’s good for you because it has vegetables in it, and it’s not actually fried.”
Huh? It’s called F-R-I-E-D rice. It’s actually quite fried, and those little bits of peas and carrots are not helping at all. Although it’s cooked in a wok rather than a deep fryer, it’s made with vegetable oil or animal fat, so beware of the Friday night take-out.
